Climate change is the most important issue of our times. Solving this problem is not only about preserving the planet and the animals and plants that depend on it. It’s about quality of life. It’s about social justice. It’s about freedom to make choices in the future. It’s about the survival of our civilization.
This blog is intended to shed some light on the debate on real solutions for climate change. It results from an ongoing investigation for a PhD thesis in Ecological Economics, on the use of market-based instruments (emissions trading and offsets) and market-like techniques (cost-benefit analysis) to solve environmental problems. One objective is to analyze the environmental, social and economical implications of the privatization of the atmosphere, following the Kyoto Protocol ratification.
